Team Friday's Approach to Training and Community Co-Facilitation

At Team Friday, the core of our approach is working in collaboration with our community partners, and this may include training and community co-facilitation such as storytelling, sharing success stories, and interpreting data for community outreach. Our approach is rooted in a thoughtful and strategic process that combines previous experiences, concept development, learning, intention, and purpose. By leveraging our knowledge and continuously adapting based on participant feedback, we ensure that our trainings are engaging, informative, and contribute to successful community engagement strategies and professional development.

WE BUILD ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Team Friday facilitators reflect on the knowledge gained from past trainings and audience experiences. By focusing on what has worked well and what areas can be improved to enhance the learning experience for participants. Also, by analyzing feedback from each session closely, we can understand learning preferences, and identify successful techniques, which results in refinement of our approach that resonates with the target audience.

WE RECOGNIZE OUR AUDIENCE

To provide participants with an optimal learning experience, we carefully consider their demographics, languages, experience, career type, and the overall purpose of the training. By tailoring our concepts and materials to the specific needs of the audience, we ensure that the training content is relevant, relatable, and accessible. This approach fosters engagement and empowers participants to apply their learnings effectively.

WE GROW OUR CONTENT AND STRATEGY

Team Friday training facilitators believe in thorough preparation to deliver impactful training sessions. Weeks before the training date, our team regularly meets to strategize and conceptualize the presentation to further clarify the training’s purpose and intention. This includes coordinating logistics, such as setting up virtual platforms, designing promotional materials, scheduling facilitators and tech support members, and securing interpreters, if needed. To ensure a comprehensive understanding of the training topic, we dedicate time to in-depth research, enabling us to present as experts and provide valuable insights, beyond the basics. As the training presentation nears completion, each facilitator rehearses their speaking roles, to apply and embody the content and materials. Internal run-throughs allow us to practice technical aspects and coordination to establish a seamless participant experience.

WE UTILIZE FEEDBACK AND EVOLVE

An important aspect we incorporate is participant feedback because it is a valuable resource for growth. By actively seeking input during and after each training session, we gain insights into the effectiveness of our methods and identify areas for improvement. We also hear directly from participants about what they hope to learn and their questions. For example, integrating a participant's suggestion to provide more time and smaller breakout groups during practice sessions resulted in increased engagement and enhanced learning experiences. We continually refine our approach based on feedback, ensuring that future trainings deliver maximum value.

The intention behind our training sessions is to maximize learning opportunities within an environment that is accessible for multiple learning styles, and then codesign the integration of the material presented.  Therefore, our facilitators act as guides, providing the right tools and techniques to enable participants to optimize their community engagement strategies successfully. Our training sessions emphasize the existing capabilities, strengths, and values and then build upon these competencies with applicable content to further reach their goals.

Team Friday's training and community co-facilitation approach centers on leveraging past experiences, developing tailored content, and prioritizing continuous improvement. We are committed to maximizing reach and impact, ensuring our trainings inspire, inform, and drive positive change.

Most importantly, we value and recognize participants’ expertise and lived experiences.
